Kayak Trailer
I've had this utility trailer to move my ATV around but now that I don't have the ATV it's just been used
for stuff around the house here and there. We have tried to plan kayak camping trips with a group of friends and it never works out because it's so tough to get all the boats moved around. John and I tackled building a rack system that we could mount on the trailer to convert it to transport
six full size touring kayaks.
We put together the wood frame and still have to paint, mount the foam blocks that the boat hulls will actually sit on, put the plate back on, add some reflectors and replace the ratchets straps with steel cables and turnbuckles.
The tongue of the trailer is at a fabrication shop where they are adding 24 inches to the length so the boats will clear the back of the truck, hopefully it will arrive soon!
I replaced the front and rear orange ratchet straps with 1/8" steel cable and threw a coat of paint on it.
I got the final coat of paint on and found some reflectors to mount on the top of the verticals.
It looks great with two boats on it and I can't wait to load it up with a full load of six.
The fabrication shop got the tongue back to me in record time and did a great job, I think it's just right now.
