Hardwood Install

When we moved in our landlord told us that she would think about replacing the absolutely worn out carpeting later in the year.  Gregg is coming down with his tools and we should be able to bang the job out in a weekend, along with installing cruise control in his truck, long story...  So that it would save her some money and us from having to move all of our stuff out and then back in I suggested doing just the hallway and dining/living rooms.  We're only going to be here for about 8 more months but she wants us to be able to enjoy the new floor a little before we move.

The carpet is over 18 years old and extremely dirty, we won't miss it

The subfloor in the hallway and dining room needs some work before we start with the hardwood

The living room subfloor looks good though

Some water stains but no damage

There is a small floor level change between the dining room and hallway but it shouldn't cause much of a problem

It looks like at one time either carpet or vinyl was glued to the dining room floor

We got about three rows of the hallway done Friday night and started again early Saturday morning

It was a little slow going until we got a few feet from the wall, after that we moved a lot faster

Gregg was doing some figuring for the transition to the kitchen flooring

We got most of the furniture back into the living room Saturday night after we got the baseboards installed

The new baseboards and heating diffusers really add a lot to the finished job

The light colored wood really brightens up the rooms, especially the dining room

The dining room looks so much different now

The clock looks large but we think it works well
