Model Boat Crate

Eric hooked me up with a bunch of hardware to build a crate for my gas boat about 4 years ago.  After moving twice with the boat unprotected I figured it was time to actually build this crate.  It is made from 3/4 inch plywood, doubled up on the corners, glued and nailed.  There are cutouts in the base so the boat stand stays right in place and I even used most of the hardware I've been dragging around with me for years!

Here is the boat I needed to build a transport crate for, the goal is to be able to stack things on top of it when we move across the country

I'm happy with the way it came out, should do its job and will probably last forever

The handles are bolted right through for strength and the metal corners will protect the wood from damage

Chains and eye hooks hold the lid open

The buckles that Eric gave me do a great job of keeping the cover closed and the look pretty tough too

I had the brainstorm to put these small casters on the end, they really make it easy to move around by yourself

The coolest part is that it actually fits in the box

It's more my style to spend hours working on a project and screw up some minor detail like the length or something
