May 30, 2010:  Well it's the end of a crazy week around here so I figured I'd take some time and do a quick update for those of you that haven't given up on this site yet.  Lisa gave her notice at the pharmacy she's been working at and will be starting at a local grocery store pharmacy in a week or so.  On the second to last shift of her time there the pharmacy was held up at gun point by two guys, one of them ended up being the author that wrote "Drugstore Cowboy" back in the 80's so the news is having a field day with it.  Lisa was fine, a little shaken up but doing quite well all things considered.  Needless to say she didn't make that last shift she was scheduled for and she's very happy to not have to go there again.  So other than that craziness we have finally got permission to build our addition for the dog room and dog run which will actually also include replacing the cedar roof with a 50 year composite shingle roof.  Hopefully construction will start next week, feel free to monitor progress via the House Projects section to the left.  I spent the weekend getting the yard ready to have the fence out, mostly just by putting up a new temporary one that should keep the dogs in while there is a section of the main fence removed.  I got to weld some hinges to a post, that was pretty cool, it's been a while since I've had a reason to roll out the welder.  I also snapped some new photos of the kegerator, we added secondary regulators to it a few weeks ago so each keg can operate at its own pressure, it works better now if you have two very different beers on tap.  Well, Lisa is on her way home from hanging out with her friend Theresa, the dogs need to be fed and I need a shower, hope you all had a great holiday weekend!

May 5, 2010:  I probably should just apologize for such a huge gap in updates but I'm sure that's probably getting old.  We are super busy with work, the dogs and all the other things we have going on.  I'll try to do an update here and there but can't promise, sorry.  We've been pretty busy and done a few things in our few bits of spare time.  We spent a weekend in Leavenworth for a lure coursing trial and beer festival.  The dogs did great, Stella, Leroy and Helix were tied for first place on Sunday so our dogs ended up taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  The puppies even got to do a couple of fun runs and really took to it, nothing like instincts.  We picked up a new digital camera so hopefully you'll start seeing some new and better pictures of the dogs, as long as I can learn how to use it that is.  We've started to get back on the bikes, just in time for a couple of charity rides that we are registered for.  I have a 22 mile ride coming up next weekend, Lisa has a 45 mile the weekend after, and I have a 70 mile that same weekend.  The weather has been lousy so we haven't been able to do as much training as we'd like, hopefully we can get a couple rides in soon or the long ones might be a real challenge.  We have been working with a couple general contractors about putting an addition on the house and replacing the roof.  We are looking to build a 10 x 12 room for the dogs with a dog door and outdoor dog run, this will let us spend a little more time away from the house and not have to worry that the dogs are locked inside.  The cedar shake roof on the house is about 5 to 8 years past its prime and will need to be replaced as part of the project.  Hopefully we'll get started soon, I'll be sure to get pictures posted up when we start making progress, so far we're just in the design stages, which seem to be taking forever.  That's about it for now, it's pretty late, I'll try to update again soon, thanks for checking in on us.
